This is also a great way to explore breathwork without having to dedicate your time to a full day or weekend — the typical length of a full breathwork workshop. Transpersonal Breathwork is a breathing technique that can foster a cathartic re-experience of one’s biographical history, birth process, and experiences of archetypal and cosmic nature. The experience of breathwork can be cathartic in nature, releasing stored physical or emotional energy, or it can be extremely calming and relaxing. There are a wide variety of experiences one can experience, but many of these experiences, despite their nature, can help one create meaning and wholeness in life. The theory and technique of Transpersonal Breathwork stems directly from Stan and Christina Grof’s Holotropic Breathwork. The five components of breathwork are; intensified breathing, evocative music, focused bodywork, group process, and expressive art.
This workshop will explore a brief history of Stan Grof’s theories, and the history of Holotropic Breathwork. It will also include a “mini” breathwork session — around 30-45 minutes long. Typical breathwork sessions last anywhere from 2-3 hours.
*Please wear comfortable clothing. There are some blankets and pillows at the studio, but please feel free to bring your own. To help cover the charge for the space, we are asking for a recommended donation of $10 – $20, but any bit would be helpful!
