Awareness Through Movement
Feldenkrais is a movement class that helps the student find ways to integrate body and mind. Gillian Franks will be teaching Awareness Through Movement® classes. This is a group where the instructor verbally guides participants through the movements. Each lesson is designed to give the nervous system an opportunity to observe, learn and process information and offer an opportunity to change habitual movements.
All that is required of the student is that they come in comfortable clothes that allow easy movement. It helps if they are open-minded, and make success doing the lesson slowly and gently.
In 1974 she was teaching people how to ride motorcycles; in 1981 she was introducing early adopters to spreadsheets and word processing; and for the past 14 years, she has taught hundreds of Vermonters a variety of life skills such as money management and business development. In 2011 she started a 4 year course to become a Feldenkrais practitioner.
